History of Pete's RV Center - Schererville, Indiana

1949 until 1977

Our story begins in 1949. The building was constructed by Joseph Reiplinger, an early pioneer of Schererville. The cinder block building first started out as a Shell gas station. Even then its claim of good service and "Last Gas Going West for 27 Miles" served it well for 18 long years. Camper Sales rented it out in 1970 and later sold the business to Paul Craven. Craven proceeded to open Rollin-On RV's in 1977.

1977

Rollin-On RV's opens for business under the motto, "Provide quality products and services at fair prices by honest people"

1982

The first new motorhomes were sold alongside fold downs and travel trailers. The year was also marked by a new mansard roof (has four sloping sides) for added beauty and modernization.

1985

One of Schererville's largest flag poles installed in the front parking lot. Legend has it that if one is perched on the top of the flag pole, a clear view of the Chicago skyline can be viewed.

1986

Remodeling the building is completed. Exterior cedar siding and stone front with new landscaping. The interior is redecorated and air conditioning is installed. Capping off ten years of construction, this was also the year a new service building is built.

1992

A new street sign and window awning are added to the sales and showroom building. Still following the same principles of honesty and good service, Rollin-On is now one of the oldest and largest RV dealers in the Midwest.
